Challenges
As you know, healthcare is a major national issue. Some recent developments are positive. But there are a number of new policies and changes that are of great concern––particularly to patients.
Currently, the spine industry is experiencing a variety of challenges that threaten patient healthcare, as well as U.S. leadership in medical innovation. There are three key challenges we are facing as an industry:
- Insurance payer pushback and denials
- Increasing government restrictions that delay innovation
- A new tax structure that will reduce corporate job creation and research and development
To further understand these issues and to find out how you can help, please watch this short video.
One of the most serious challenges facing the chronic back and leg pain community is changing insurance company policies. Specifically, increasing numbers of private insurance companies are denying their policyholders coverage for spine surgery. As you know, spine surgery is a complicated and not inexpensive procedure. But for many patients, it’s their only hope. Without insurance coverage, few patients can afford the spine surgery that can get them back on their feet––and on with their lives.
The Better Way Back® community is taking action and raising our voices to demand patient access to spine care. See how others have gotten involved. Please contact The Better Way Back community if you would like to take action and join the fight. E-mail us at info@TheBetterWayBack.org or call 1-800-745-7099.
