The Better Way Back® spokesmen and patient support team were at the 28th Annual North American Spine Society (NASS) Meeting last week in New Orleans. Patient Ambassadors Bill Walton and Nate Quarry met with some of the world’s top spine surgeons to discuss the importance of patient support and to share their personal stories of success and inspiration through their work on behalf of The Better Way Back.

During the conference, a special event was held at the National World War II Museum to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF®) procedure and other advances in spine surgery. Throughout the past decade, hundreds of thousands of patients have benefitted from XLIF and other minimally disruptive techniques. As mentioned in many blog posts here on The Back Beat, patients often walk the same day of surgery. They also often experience less intra-operative blood loss, spend less time in the hospital, and return to work within four to six weeks.

Overall, Bill and Nate had a successful week advocating for patient education and support and encouraging surgeons to join The Better Way Back community!
