Nate “Rock” Quarry, spokesman for The Better Way Back, came out of retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting last month. It was one fight. But it meant the world to a 19-year-old high school student with Down syndrome; it was the fulfillment of his dream to enter the octagon for a real MMA match.

“Throughout my life, over and over again, I’ve been given an opportunity to live my dreams,” said Quarry. “If I can make the slightest effort to help a young man, not only live his dream but also show his mother what it could be like to have him follow in his dreams—and actually, if I can, affect the entire community and let everyone know that special-needs people are people that are just a little different.”

Nate’s positive outcome with the XLIF® procedure helped him get back to MMA fighting, and it helped him be a part of fulfilling someone else’s dreams. For more about this inspiring story, read the Sports Illustrated article or watch the FOX 12 News video.
